unFAIR and imBALANCED

As you probably know, Dick Cheney dealt perhaps the final blow to John McCain's campaign earlier today by offering up his endorsement of the McCain-Palin ticket. If you happened to be a FOX News viewer, however, you'd have been lucky to find out. As of 6:35PM Pacific today:

FOX: 8 mentions of Cheney
CNN: 34 mentions
MSNBC: 36 mentions
Maybe that's Fair & Balanced™. But it's not accurate and honest.

Another untrue claim by McCon

McCain on an untrue story claiming Obama has inaugural speech ready before elections: “My friends, when I pull this thing, I have a request for my opponent. I want him to save that manuscript of his inaugural address, and donate it to the Smithsonian. And they can put it right next to the Chicago paper that said Dewey Defeats Truman,” he said in reference to the 1948 Chicago Tribune headline incorrectly proclaiming Dewey the winner of that presidential election.

In response, Obama-Biden spokesman Bill Burton denied McCain's claim and linked him to a very unpopular Republican president.
“While this charge is completely false and there is no draft of an inaugural address for Senator Obama, the last thing we need is a candidate like John McCain who just plans on re-reading George Bush’s,” Burton said.

I have started to like Bill Burton more and more.

Palin endorses Obama-Biden?

Seems like somebody tricked Sarah Palin in to wearing a democrat scarf (with donkeys and 'vote' printed on it). This was on Oct 21 in Reno, Nevada. I wonder how much the scarf cost?

Michelle Bachman = Horse's Behind

Rep Michelle Bachman from Minnesota said Barack and Michelle Obama are anti-America and called for media to investigate liberal congress members if they are anti-America or pro-America.
A campaign calling for her censure has been launched: http://www.censurebachmann.com/

and
her democratic opponent saw an amazing $86000 donations within hours of the telecast of her hateful rant on Hardball with Chris Matthews: https://secure.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/18660

Here's a picture of MIchelle Bachman kissing George W. Bush.

The Spin of Drudgereport on Colin Powell

Drudgereport is reporting on a rumor that Colin Powell might endorse Obama and out of all the pictures of Colin Powell, they decided to publish this picture.

In case you did not get it, let me spell it out for you: Drudgreport wants to undercut Colin Powell's credentials by making you realize he is just another black guy who pals around with black guys and is endorsing a black guy.

Newsweek found itself at the center of a controversy on Wednesday, after choosing to run a photo of vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin on its latest cover, that appears not to have been retouched.
After the cover went public, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, host of “America’s Newsroom,” was one of the first to draw light to the photograph, which shows the 44-year-old Alaskan governor up close, allowing readers to see a reportedly unedited version of Palin.
“This cover is a clear slap in the face at Sarah Palin,” Andrea Tantaros, a Republican political and media commentator said on the show. “Why? Because it’s unretouched. It highlights every imperfection that every human being has. We’re talking unwanted facial hair, pores, wrinkles.”
Tantaros said the cover image of Palin was in stark contrast to previous covers that featured Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
“This is a gross slap in the face to Sarah Palin after Newsweek has done so many favorable covers of Barack Obama that make him look presidential, that are clearly retouched,” she said. “He looks flawless. This is a slap in the face and the biggest reason is because the cover [headline] says ‘She’s one of the folks,’ and in parenthesis says ‘and that’s the problem.’”
As for Newsweek, a rep for the magazine said the zoom in on Palin, was to accentuate her smile.
“Nigel Parry’s portrait of Governor Palin was shot and cropped so we could see clearly into her eye and be engaged by (have access to) her smile,” Newsweek Director of Covers, Bruce Ramsay, said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

Jealous John McSame going all-out in attempt to get some media attention

Freaking hilarious:

On Friday, Senator Obama carried several adorable babies in his capable arms as he strode across the surface of the Seine River in Paris without getting a drop of water on his effortlessly elegant white tuxedo, while Senator McCain gave a somewhat disappointing speech on how reading communist literature can cause Rickets, in his basement, to his mother, without putting in his teeth."

It is over...she is in denial (Old News)

Allrighty then...It is almost over today. Don't forget Hillary though....she will be in the tall grass waiting for her chance to pounce on anything she can get. I guess first thing will be Obama's help in paying her debt (more than 20 million).

An excerpt (huffingtonpost) to show what goes on in Da Man's campaign:

How do you know if Barack Obama is unhappy with what you're saying— or not saying? At meetings of his closest advisers, he likes to lean back, put his feet on the table and close his eyes. If he doesn't like how the conversation is going, he will lean forward, put his feet on the floor and "adjust his socks, kind of start tugging at them," says Michael Strautmanis, a counselor to the campaign. Obama wants people to talk, but he doesn't want to intimidate them. "If you haven't said anything, he'll call on you," says Strautmanis. "He's never said it, but he usually thinks if somebody is very quiet it's because they disagree with what everybody is saying … so Barack will call on you and say, 'You've been awfully quiet'." There are no screamers on Team Obama; one senior Obama aide says he's heard him yell only twice in four years. Obama was explicit from the beginning: there was to be "no drama," he told his aides. "I don't want elbowing or finger-pointing. We're going to rise or fall together." Obama wanted steady, calm, focused leadership; he wanted to keep out the grandstanders and make sure the quiet dissenters spoke up. A good formula for running a campaign—or a presidency.

$109 million in 7 years and U Me Aur Hum

Billary Clinton(s) released their tax returns today (April 4, Friday). Obama campaign (and rest of the country) has been asking Clintons to be a little less secretive so they were pressured to do it. In a very old-school-politics move, they released the tax returns on a Friday afternoon hoping that media will not give it as much coverage as it would on a weekday. Reason: Nobody follows news on weekends. By Monday it will be old news and not as big a scandal.

So, what is the scandal? Clintons made $109 millions in 7 years since Bill moved out of the white house. That is more than 15 million per year...the money mostly came from book deals and paid speeches but a major chunk came from Bills dealings with Ron Burkle...the nature of these dealings has not been revealed.

Moreover, Bill Clinton has not released list of donors for his presidential library. It is known that before leaving office, Bill issued some controversial pardons. It remains to be seen whether the pardons had anything to do with "donations" to his library. Maybe that'd be a story for another Friday.

2nd Story: U Me Aur Hum - The Ajay Devgan and Kajol movie

Did anyone notice how a month before release of this movie, how suddenly we are being fed crap (pictures of) about Ajay Devgan and Kajol playing Holi...celebrating birthday...going to a premier?

An obvious attempt to remind everyone that they are a good happy couple so we don't forget to watch them in the movie. I love Ajay Devgan and Kajol is not too bad either (a bit on the heavier side but far better than Kareena/Aish et al.) but the kind of publicity Devgan's publicist is going for is only ruining the freshness factor of the movie.

Hill-Billy and their War on Media

Some people I know, are a bit turned off by the media because of the (alleged) anti-Hillary bias. I say, don't be disheartened by the treatment being meted out to Hill-Billy. Just open your eyes to the conduct of Hill-Billy and their campaign. They deserve what they are getting from millions of frustrated democrats.

Here are some of the things they have done in last few months: Bill Clinton compares Obama win in South Carolina to Jesse Jackson win (implying its a black state won by a black man). Hillary praises Obama at the end of the debate and then next day says "shame on you" then next day says "heavens will open...blah blah," starts crying whenever possible and of course says "I am your girl" and "I will be the first woman president" trying to cash in on her gender for votes as if women in USA are not smart enough to know who is better for the country and will vote for her just because she is a woman. She lies about Bosnia (3 times) then says I misspoke when videos of her "sniper fire and cork-screw landing" were revealed. Next day she talks about Rev Wright to change the story. She says McCain would be better president than a fellow democrat. Bill says Hillary and McCain love their country (implying Obama doesn't). Initially, when she wanted Iowa and New Hampshire votes, she said Michigan will not count and when Obama won rest of the states, she is now champion of the voters and wants Michigan and Florida to be counted. She says the elections in these states were fair: Obama and John Edward's's names were not even on the ballot in Michigan.

Did you ever hear of Obama showing any emotion in the face of adversity? He is Mr. Ice. Nothing ruffles him. He was calm when he was 30 points behind her, he is equally calm now when he is 10 points ahead of her. He never gave any false statement about her...his wife did not say "I would have left my husband if he was cheating on me" when Hillary said "I would have left the church if Rev Wright was my pastor". He never attacked her personally or called her any names. Even McCain is more decent than Hillary: he fired his staffer who tried to use Rev Wright for anti-Obama agenda and he denounced the conservative talk show host who kept emphasizing on Obama's middle name.
Now, if someone is as wrong as Hill-Billy, of course the media is going to keep following their stories and keep catching them in their false/deceptive/theatrical/selfish/divisive (etc.) politics. So, is there a bias...I don't think so. As you sow so shall...

The race for democratic nominee is over anyway, its just that nobody told Hillary that it is over and she lost.

Hillary says: Wright would not be my pastor. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/25/clinton-wright-would-not-have-been-my-pastor/

Anyone surprised with the timing. This is an obvious way of deflecting attention from her sniper fire comments. If you do not know what I am talking about, you need to come out from under the rock and live a little.

Obama Passport File Breach

Perfect timing. I guess there was not much to hide in that passport file of Obama but kudos to David Plouffe and David Axelrod (campaign managers: Obama '08) for making the breach 'The Story' for media. Good job guys. Make them forget about Rev Wright (and Hillary if you can).

For the record: I am rooting for Obama. Although Hillary will be better for India, Obama will be better for the world. It's the same case as Bush. Bush was good for India but horrible for most of the world. Moreover, Clintons are the most horrible people in US politics.

Heath Ledger

Allrighty then, first up Heath Ledger. What did they say happen? Heath died of an accidental overdose of prescription medicine.Let me first say that I am a big fan of Heath. There are very few artists like Heath Ledger who immerse themselves in their art (Daniel Day Lewis and Christian Bale are the others who come to mind). I was actually very sad the day he died.Coming back to the "accidental overdose." Does anyone really believe that? We know a lot of big actors are troubled, they take drugs (I am not judging), they have access to drugs, both legal and illegal. I do not believe for a second that Heath died of an accidental overdoes. How do you take an overdose of prescription medicine anyway? I think that it was the big production house of the Batman franchise which did not want any negative publicity for the movie. The Dark Knight represents a good half billion dollars worth for the studio and I don't blame them. In the process, if some people remember Heath with a certain fondness, even if because of the 'accidental' nature of his untimely demise, I say no harm done.
